Privacy policy

The contact form is the only way to reach us, which makes this page more consequential than a boilerplate privacy notice. It is written to be read.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to texasroofingnow.com, operated by Texas Roofing Now, an independent referral service covering DFW and North Dallas, Texas. Texas Roofing Now does not carry out inspections or roofing work — it connects homeowners with an independent licensed roofing contractor who does, and it may be compensated for referrals.

What we collect

Information you give us

When you submit the contact form, we receive whatever you entered:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number, if you choose to provide one — the field is optional
  • Your city, if selected
  • Your property address, if you choose to provide one — the field is optional
  • The message you write describing what you have noticed about the roof

The form also carries two invisible anti-spam mechanisms: a hidden field that real browsers leave empty, and a timestamp recording when the page loaded. Automated submissions trip both. Neither collects anything about you, and the timestamp is discarded once the submission is processed.

Information collected automatically

Google Analytics 4. This site uses Google Analytics to understand which pages people read and how they arrive. It collects standard analytics data such as pages visited, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and referral source. We use it in aggregate to decide what to write next. Google's own privacy policy governs its handling of that data, and most browsers and extensions offer ways to opt out.

Server logs and hosting. This site is hosted on Vercel, which processes requests and may retain standard technical logs including IP addresses, as any web host does.

Rate limiting. To stop automated abuse of the contact form, the server keeps a short-lived, in-memory count of submissions per IP address. It is not written to disk, is not associated with your submission, and disappears when the process restarts.

Cookies

This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies of its own. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to distinguish visitors; those are Google's and are described in Google's documentation. There is no advertising network on this site, no retargeting pixel, and no affiliate tracking.

How your information is used

  • To reply to you
  • To pass to our roofing partner so they can arrange and carry out a roof inspection at the address you give us
  • So the partner can produce and send your inspection report
  • To answer questions you ask us about a claim or about roofing work
  • If you become the partner's customer, so they can carry out and document the work

That is the complete list. We do not use it for marketing to people who did not ask to hear from us, and there is no newsletter to be added to.

How it is transmitted and stored

The form submits over HTTPS to a server function on this site, which sends it to our business inbox using Microsoft Graph, Microsoft's email service. From that point it lives in our email, the same as any message anyone sends a business.

This website does not have a database and does not store your submission. There is no customer record on this site, nothing to breach here, and nothing to export from it.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to third-party lead buyers. This is worth stating in bold because selling homeowner contact details to a network of contractors is a routine practice in this industry, and it is one of the reasons a single form submission can turn into a fortnight of phone calls from companies you never contacted. We do not do that.

What we do share, and with whom: we are a referral service, so your request goes to the one independent roofing contractor we refer to in your area, so they can arrange the inspection. That is a single named contractor, not a bidding network, and it is the only reason your details leave our inbox. We may be compensated by that contractor if you become their customer. If you would rather we did not pass your details on, say so in the message box and we will answer your question without making the referral.

The parties that necessarily process data in the course of running the site:

  • Our roofing partner — the independent contractor who carries out the inspection and any work
  • Vercel — hosting, which means it processes requests to this site
  • Microsoft — email delivery and our business inbox
  • Google — analytics, as described above

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.

How long we keep it

Inquiries stay in our email while they are relevant to answering you and to the referral, and for as long as we need them for our ordinary business and tax records. Once your details have been passed to the roofing partner, that contractor keeps its own records under its own policy. If you would like your inquiry deleted from our inbox, ask us through the contact form and we will delete it, other than anything we are required to retain.

Your choices

  • Provide less. Phone number and property address are both optional. If you would rather not give an address before speaking to us, describe the area instead.
  • Ask what we hold. Contact us and we will tell you.
  • Ask us to delete it. As above.
  • Opt out of analytics. Browser settings, extensions, and Google's own opt-out tools all work here.

Children

This site is intended for homeowners and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and the form submits over an encrypted connection. Because there is no database on this site, there is no store of submissions here to be compromised. Beyond that, we take reasonable measures to protect our email — and, as every honest privacy policy should say, no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of the page changes with it. We do not update that date without an actual change, which is the same rule we apply to review dates on our editorial content.

Contact

Questions about this policy go through the contact form. There is no published email address or phone number on this site — see the contact page for why that is a deliberate choice.
